SUMMER SPLASH FORUM SET

This tutorial was written for those with a working knowledge of psp and animation shop 3. I used version 9 of psp, but any version should work.

Supplies:

Tube of Choice: I used a cute little summer tube from Pinup Toons that I had purchased at CILM. You must not use this artwork without first purchasing a license to do so. You can buy Pinup Toons tubes at CDO.

Scrap Kit of Choice: I used an adorable PTU kit called Summer Splash by Mary Fran of Nitwit Collections. You can purchase the kit at Nitwit Collections or you can use any other kit of your choice.

Animations: I used two really awesome animations created by Lovey. You can download them at her blog at Lovey's Shack Tutorials. I used bubble fountain and crabby.

Filters: Xero (radiance); Eye Candy 4000 (gradient glow); Eye Candy 4000 (HSB noise)

Fonts: Arial Black, Caramel Crunch

Let's Get Started

1. Open a new canvas 600 x 250, transparent background.

2. Open the "fish teal" paper from the scrap kit or whatever paper you choose to use and paste as a new layer on your canvas. I usually resize the paper to 20 and sharpen before I copy and paste if it's a page size kit. Duplicate that layer. On the duplicated layer, Adjust, blur, Gaussian blur with radius set to 4. Effects, texture effects, blinds with width 2, opacity 24, color white, and both boxes ticked. Layers, properties, and lower the opacity to 75. Use your crop tool and crop both the paper layers to the size of your tag.

3. Set your foreground color to a darker color from your paper. In my tag I used color # 2e93e5. Now click on your top layer, selections, all, float, defloat, selections, modify, select selections border with inside and anti-alias ticked and border width set to 4. Layer, new raster, layer, and flood fill with the darker color you set. Click back on your top paper layer again, selections, all, float, defloat, selections, modify, selection selections border again but change the width to 8. Layer, new raster layer, and this time flood fill with a lighter color from your paper. I used color # 66e1f6. Now add a fat gradient glow to the lighter border layer only.

4. Open the pool from your scrap kit and resize to 10. Copy and paste as a new layer on your tag and position as desired and resizing again if necessary.

5. Get your tube and paste as a new layer, resizing as needed. Move the tube layer below the pool layer and get your eraser tool and carefully erase a section of the pool so that it looks like the body of your tube is coming out of the water in the pool. Close off all layers except the tube and pool layer and then layers, merge, visible. Unhide your layers again. Make sure you are still on the tube/pool layer and go to layers, properties, and change blend mode to screen. Add your tube layer again, position as desired, crop as needed, and then layers, properties, and change the blend mode to luminance legacy and lower the opacity to about 75. Duplicate this layer, image, mirror, place as desired, layers, properties, and lower the opacity on this one to about 50. Copy and paste your tube again (this is your main tube layer), position as desired, and crop. Effects, Xero, radiance at 128, 50, 128, 255.

6. Open the hose from the scrap kit, resize and copy and paste on your tag, resizing again if necessary and enhance, sharpen. Move this layer below your main tube lower and position as desired.

7. Now on your color palette set your foreground to color # 66e1f6 and your background to white. Grab your preset shapes tool set to rectangle and set your line style to diamond with a stroke width of 2. Draw out a rectangle the length of your tag and a width you like and convert to a raster layer. Layers, properties, and lower the opacity to about 28. Now, close off your background color and draw another rectangle the same size as the one you just made using only the teal foreground color, and convert to raster layer. Don't lower the opacity on this layer though and make sure the diamonds line up with the diamonds from the first rectangle layer.

8. Grab your text tool and set to Arial Black, size 20 and set your foreground and background colors to # 2e93e5 and # 66e1f6. Type out the words Summer Splash alternating between the two colors. (You alternate the colors by clicking on the "swap color" arrows beside the two color boxes in your color palette). Stretch the wording so that it fills the length of your tag and center it in the white rectangle. Effects, texture effects, weave - on the weave use gap size 1, width 4, opacity 1, weave color black, gap color white, and the fill gaps box ticked. Effects, Eye Candy 4000 - gradient glow, set color width to 3, click on the color tab and select fat.

9. Now find your two border layers (dark blue and lighter teal) and move those to the top of your layer pallet with the dark blue on the very top. Duplicate the dark blue layer 2 times so that you have 3 dark blue border layers. Click on each one and go to layer, properties, and give each one a new name (border 1, border 2, border 3). Click on the bottom or first blue border and then Effects, Eye Candy 4000, HSB noise set to 25, 30, 40, 0, 10.08, 10.08, smooth lumps, seamless tile ticked, and set random seed at 1 and hit ok. Click on border 2 and go to Effects, Eye Candy 4000 using the same settings but click on random seed and click ok. Click on border 3 and repeat but once again click random seed and click ok. So now you should have 3 dark blue borders with HSB noise and one teal border with a white gradient glow. Make sure the teal border with the white gradient glow is beneath the 3 dark blue borders and all are at the top of your layers pallet.

10. Add your copyright information and move the copyright layer below your 4 border layers. Now we are ready to start working with the animation.

11. Close off all 4 border layers, your copyright layer, main tube layer, wording layer, and the text box and text box border layers. Click on any unhid layer and edit, copy merged. Now open animation shop and paste as a new image. Now you need to duplicate your frame so that you have 18 frames (edit, select all, duplicate selected - if you go over 18 frames when duplicating, just go to the last frames, click on the frame, right click, and delete that frame and any other frames till you have a total of 18 frames).

12. Open the bubble fountain animation you downloaded from Lovey's site. Edit, select all, animation, flip. Still on the animation, go to edit, select all, edit, copy, edit, propagate paste. Now click back on the first frame of your tag and edit, select all, edit, paste into selected frame and paste the animation near the hose where the water would come out. Play your animation to see if you have it positioned right. If not, undo and re-paste the animation where needed.

13. Open the crabby animation and using the same process as in step 12, paste the crabby animation onto your tag frames and position as indicated in my tag on the left side of your tag near the bottom. You may need to undo and re-paste a time or two till you get the animation where desired.

14. Now back into psp. Close off the layers you just pasted into animation shop and open the remaining layers (4 border layers, your copyright layer, main tube layer, wording layer, and the text box and text box border layers). Now close off the dark blue border layers 2 and 3). Make sure you click on an open layer other than the dark blue border and go to edit, copy merged. Take it over to animation shop and paste as a NEW animation. Back to paint shop. Close off dark blue border 1 and unhide dark blue border 2. Edit, copy merged, and back to animation shop and paste after current frame. Back to paint shop again and close off dark blue border 2 and unhide dark blue border 3. Edit, copy merged, and back to animation shop and paste after current frame (this will be frame 3).

15. On these three frames click on the first, edit, select all, edit, copy and now click on the last of the three frames and right click on the last frame and paste after current frame. Repeat this process until you have a total of 18 frames again. Now click on the first of these 18 frames again, edit, select all, edit, copy, edit, propagate paste. Go back to your bubble/crab animation and click on the first frame, edit, select all, paste into current frame. You should now have a single tag with both animations combined. Play your animation to make sure you have the animation as desired.

16. Add your name and save your tag as a gif and you are done with your banner.

17. For the avatar I used the same process as I did for the banner but left the bubble fountain animation off. You can do your avatar any way you like and then save your avatar as a gif.

18. If you plan to make the set for anyone else and want to save your animated frames, save as an mng file so that when you reopen to add names it doesn't become fuzzy when you resave as a gif with the person's name.

Dare To Be Extraordinary

This tutorial was written for those with a working knowledge of PSP. I'm using version 9, but any version should work.

Supplies Needed:

Tube of Choice: I'm using the fabulous artwork of Elias Chatzoudis. You must not use his artwork without purchasing a license to do so. You may purchase the artwork and a license from PSP Tubes Emporium.

Template: I'm using a collab template made exclusively for the Creative Misfits blog which you can find HERE. It's Template 1 by Kelly and Linda.

Scrap Kit of Choice: I'm using an awesome kit by Vaybs of Designs by Vaybs called Pimp My Swag. You can download it HERE. Please be sure to leave some love if you download the template and kit.

Filters: Xero - Radiance & Porcelain

Eye Candy 4000 - Gradient Glow & Glass

Let's get started

1. Open the template. Delete the credits layer and unhide the background layer if you so choose. I find it easier to work with my tag with the background layer open but you don't have to unhide it. Set your foreground color to #ee85b3 and background color to white. Set foreground to gradient with the following settings: angle 45, repeats 3, linear style. Select the blue circle right, select all, float, defloat, new raster layer, and floor fill with the gradient. Delete the original blue circle layer. Select the gradient layer you just created - effects, texture effects, blinds set to 2/24, white, and both boxes checked. Select all, float, defloat. Grab the close up of your tube, paste as a new layer and position as desired, selections, invert, delete. Now on the tube layer, Xero - radiance set to 150/55/20/238, and then Xero - porcelain set to 50/50/0/0/100/0/0/0. Go to layers, properties, and change the blend mode to screen.

2. Copy and paste your main tube and position as desired and duplicate the tube layer. Adjust, blur, Gaussian blur with radius set to 4. Layers, properties, and change blend mode to soft lite, and lower the opacity to around 85.

3. Select the half pink circle layer and go to adjust, hue and saturation, colorize, and set hue to 235 and saturation to 184. Selections all, float, defloat, and grab your tube close-up and image mirror, and then paste as a new layer and position. Selections, invert, hit delete. On this close-up, apply the Xero - radiance and Xero - porcelain with the same settings as you already used. Layers, properties, and change blend mode to screen.

4. Open a new document 800 x 700. Leave your foreground color as it is but change your background color to #a33989 and flood fill the new document with the resultant gradient. Back to your template and select the half-tone layer. Selections, all, float, defloat and paste the new gradient you just made as a new layer. Selections, invert, delete. Delete the original half-tone layer. On the new half-tone layer, adjust, add/remove noise using uniform, 40, and monochrome. Enhance, sharpen. Image, rotate, free rotate, left by 15. Position toward the upper left of your tag. Layer, duplicate, image, mirror, image, flip, and position near the bottome left of your tag.

5. Select the Dare to be layer, selections, all, float, defloat, new raster layer. Change your gradient back to a solid color and set to color #ae3989 and flood fill just the words Dare to be. Selections, none. Now grab your selection tool set to rectangle and draw out a rectangle around the words Dare to Be being careful not to extend into the word Extraordinary. Click back on the original Dare to Be layer (the black wording) and hit delete. The word extraordinary will still show in black. Click on the glitter text layer and hit delete again. Now on the purple words Dare to Be, effects, Eye Candy 4000, glass. Click on the basic tab and set to bevel 10.80, smoothness 75, bevel inside marquee, and 30/35/50/0/50, and change glass color to white. Now hide all but your text and associated layers (Dare to Be, Extraordinary, Extraordinary, Glitter text, and text shadow), layers, merge visible. Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer, and flood fill white. Pull that layer right down below the text and add a drop shadow of choice. Unhide all layers and position the text layer as desired.

6. Select the blue rectangle layer. Set foreground color to #ae3989 and background color to white and set to gradient using the same settings we've been using. Selections, all, float, defloat, new raster layer, and flood fill with the gradient. Selections, none, and delete the original blue rectangle layer. Back on the gradient rectangle and effects, texture effects, blinds using the same settings as before. Selections, all, float, defloat. Now grab paper 5 from your scrap kit and image mirror. Copy and paste as a new layer on your temp, position as desired, image, resize to 85 percent, selections, invert, and hit delete. On that paper layer, adjust, hue and saturation, colorize, and set hue and saturation both to 0. Layers, properties, and change blend mode to luminance legacy and lower the opacity to 25. Selections, all, float, defloat, and grab the close-up of your tube again. Mirror the close-up if needed and paste as a new layer on your temp, position over the paper layer, selections, invert, hit delete. Now once again for the close-up, apply Xero radiance and Xero porcelain with the same settings as we've been using. Layers, properties, and change the blend mode to overlay. Now select the layer under the paper layer (should be raster 10) and effects, Eye Candy 4000, gradient glow. On the basic tab set to 3/25/100 and check the only outside selection. Click on the color tab and select fat. Click on the right slider box and change to color # ae3989. Now grab the left slider box and pull it over toward center so that you now see two white boxes and one purple box. Play around with the sliders till you get the desired effect and apply.

7. Select the half blue circle left. Selections, all, float, defloat. Grab paper 5 from your scrap kit again, paste as new layer, position as desired, selections, invert, hit delete.

8. Slect the pink rectangle. Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer, and with your foreground color set to #ae3989, flood fill the rectangle. Delete the original pink rectangle layer. On the flood filled rectangle, effects, texture effects and go down to weave. Set weave to 2/5/1, weave color black, gap color white, and fill gaps checked, and apply. Now effects, Eye Candy 4000, gradient glow, and apply the same gradient glow you already used. Reposition this rectangle as shown on my tag.

9. Select the stars layer and add any drop shadow of choice. Make it a bit heavier so the stars stand out a little.

10. Select the black rectangle. Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer. Set foreground color to #ee85b3 and flood fill. Effects, Kang 1, New Facets and set to facets 72 and d-type to 99. Selections, all, float, defloat, and grab the close-up of your tube again. Mirror if needed and paste as a new layer. Selections, invert, hit delete. Effects, Xero, radiance with the same settings as before but don't add the porcelain effect this time. Layers, properties, and change the blend mode to screen. Back to the Kang layer and add the same gradient glow as we've been using.

11. Select the dotted lines layer. Adjust, hue/saturation, hue/saturation/lightness, check colorize and set hue to 360, saturation to 97, and lightness to 100.

12. Select the wavy lines layer. Set foreground color to #db72a0 and background color to #972e5c. Set to gradient. Selections, all, float, defloat, new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient. Delete the original wavy lines layer and make sure you're on the new wavy lines layer again. Adjust, add/remove noise set to uniform, 40, and monochrome. Don't sharpen this time. Eye Candy 4000, gradient glow, and add the same gradient glow again.

13. Select the glitter circle left and add the same gradient glow. Select the right glitter circle and add the same gradient glow. Add a drop shadow of choice to both glitter circle layers.

14. Hide all layers. Grab element 46 from your scrap kit and paste as a new layer, positioning over to the left of your tag (see my tag for example). Image, rotate, free rotate, left to 15. Add gradient glow again. Grab your magic wand and click inside the top frame (the empty part). Hold down shift and click inside the center of all the other frames. Selections, modify, expand by 6. Layer, new raster layer, and flood fill with the last gradient we used which should still be set. Selections, none, and move the gradient below the frame. Selections, all, float, defloat, and grab your main tube (not the close up this time). Paste as a new layer at the top of the frame as desired, selections, invert, hit delete. Mirror your main tube and paste again positioning near the bottom of the frame. Those are the only two places in the frame you will actually see so don't worry about the middle. Hit delete. Selections, none. Hide all but those two tube layers and merge visible. Layers, properties, change blend mode to luminance legacy. Now unhide the gradient layer below the frame and the frame itself, merge, visible. Unhide all layers. Duplicate the merged frames layer, image, mirror, and postiion on the right side of your tag. You will have to move it on your layers pallet so that it is immediately under the glitter circle right layer.

15. Choose and add elements from your scrap kit as desired. Resize, recolor, and add whatever drop shadows you choose and move where necessary in your layers pallet. Copy and paste is pretty self-explanatory so I won't go into detail on that here. Note...when resizing an element smaller, I always go to enhance and sharpen once. Try not to resize your element more than once and always keep in mind the sizing as it pertains to the rest of your tag. You don't want elements too big or too small for the tag itself.

16. Once you've added all the elements you choose and are satisfied with your tag, delete the background layer. Layers, merge visible. Resize your tag as desired.

17. Add your copyright and license.

18. Add your name as desired, and save your tag as a png image, and you're done.

Well as you can see, I redid my blog layout. Managed to do it all by myself lol. Was scared and praying every second I didn't screw something up lol. Heaved a heavy sigh of relief when it was all finished.

Now for the surprise I talked about in an earlier post. I was going to wait till I had a blinkie but that may be a few days yet so I thought I'll go ahead and tell ya now. ... I decided to give tut writing a try again and have set up a new tut site. I did manage to find my old tuts and the tags that went with them and am in the process of getting those on the site. Hopefully then will be able to start adding some new stuff.

Well sitting here today home sick from work yet again...stupid cold just won't go away...been almost a month now...and also waiting for the appliance repairman to come fix my dryer that I discovered wasn't working last night..sigh...so while waiting for him figured I'd work on a temp. My awesome dork sista Aqua suggested having a separate layer for the wording to include dog, which I did. That layer is x'd out on the temp but it's there if you want to use dog instead of cat lol. Cluster Frames and a Huge Thank You

So...tried something a little different this time. Vaybs from Designs by Vaybs had a contest recently to create cluster frames using four of her gorgeous FTU scrap kits, The Witches Den, Fall, Trick or Treat, and Steampunked, so I thought I'd give it a try. I really enjoyed working with the kits and making the cluster frames was a lot of fun. AND....the frame I made using her kit The Witches Den was one of the 3 winners of her contest! Yay! Thank you so much to Vaybs and her friend who helped her judge all the awesome entries she received. I'm sure it wasn't easy as the frames I've seen are amazing! Wow first of all...wanna shout out a huge huge thankz to MissyMinx for the totally awesome layout and blinkie! Girl this is way more than I could have ever dreamed of and no way I could have done it myself lmao. You are amazing! Wufs ya!

Second....woooooop wouldn't have a clue about blogs and all that stuff without the help of my awesome blog sistaz! Syl and Aqua...bet you were ready to rip your hair out with all my questionz lmao. So thanks to you guys for hangin in there while I pulled my hair out tryin to link up the blinkiez lol. And thanks for your friendship! You guyz have kept me sane when I didn't think that was possible lmao. And you always make me laugh! Wufs ya! And that includes Tonya and Bru and all the rest too!

From this point on I'll only be posting here on my new awesome blog. I'll be leaving Sapphire's Splendor open though for those that used temps or whatnot. I'm gonna try to get my temps uploaded into bulk sometime this weekend and posted here too...maybe make it a bit easier.
